Pros

Lots of free coffee, able to work at different stores in your area, regulars can be the highlight of your day=sometimes I feel like I'm actually a partender!

Cons

incompetebt management, lots of gossip and drama, not a professional atmosphere, non-existant training, disrespect for fellow baristas runs rampant, little to no support, strange hours make it difficult to maintain any kind of regular schedule and often result in low morale

Pros

Works around the schedule of college or high school students. Flexibility as to getting your shifts covered at the last minute.

Cons

Even if you oppose big chain stores and fortune 500 companies taking money away from the local communities you grow to love starbucks ones you start working there and it is hard to hate it again.

Pros

Best place I worked at while pursuing my bachelor's. Not many other places offer the benefits they do for part time workers(avg. 20/hr week), but not the greatest pay in the world. You will probably make more as a server at any average restaurant. Each store can vary on management. I was fortunate to have great managers; however, I did experience some not so great management while taking shifts at other stores. The good thing is that you have the option to transfer if you find yourself in such a position. There is room for advancement, but starting at the Barista level it might be a few years. And if you are looking to corporate, you will probably need a degree.

Cons

Pay isn't that great. Sometimes hours can be sparse. The early morning shifts can be a pain , especially if you are not a morning person (4am is morning in this case which is quite early). At least you have all the coffee in the world to keep you awake.
