Pros

Starbucks offers great benefits, especially for part-time partners. With an average of 20 hrs a week you qualify for medical/dental vision benefits. (I pay $30/paycheck for my coverage). They also offer 401k, stock etc. Free drinks while working and a free pound of coffee each week are nice perks. Generally Starbucks partners are quality people so the work environment is pretty positive. (Well, behind the counter at least. Can't say the same of our customers.)

Cons

My district specifically is incredibly understaffed, requiring long hours on the floor of being short staffed. Starbucks expects a lot out of their partners but doesn't always make it worth our while. They are currently asking for a 2 yr commitment, and talk about not hiring just "bodies" but good people... but they aren't really offering enough $ to get the quality of people they want. ESPECIALLY for shift supervisors. Incredibly overworked and underpaid. They basically do the the job of the manager (save scheduling) since the Assistant manager position was virtually eliminated at a pay rate only nominally above that of baristas. Starbucks culture has changed significantly in the last 5-7 years, shorting the partner and creating a dissatisfied and tired partner culture (which has lead to significant employee turnover).

Pros

Flexible schedule, decent benefits for full time employees, option to buy shares of starbucks, good discounts. Also, Starbucks on your resume is recognized by other restaurant employees if you're trying to find another part time or summer job

Cons

Not really a long term job, limited promotion opportunities, only really a student or summer job. I wasn't expecting much in the first place.
