Great partners, supportive environment, excellent benefits, generally appreciative guests, overall a great place to work
Pros
Starbucks is an excellent place to work. Period. The company provides comprehensive health benefits, available to both full and part-time employees, which are reasonably affordable for a manager. I did however hear from several partners who'd opted out of the health plan, citing their objections to the high pre-tax payroll deductions and co-payments. The atmosphere created by management is very supportive, both, for new employees and for experienced partners. The initial 2-week training schedule is extensive and hands-on, which enables every new employee to quickly gain comfort with the daily rigors of working in this frequently fast-paced environment. The investment options are truly exemplary. The vacation and sick day policies are also very, very fair to both full and part-time employees.
Cons
To succeed at Starbucks, one has to like people. There is constant personal interaction with the guests and with fellow partners.
