Pros

Good people on the whole, interesting and varied work, decently paid for the industry

Cons

Micro-management, siloed team structures restricting opportunities for collaboration and mutual learning, too many senior managers creating a bottleneck for career progression and development

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and disappointed to read this particularly as Springer Nature is truly a people business. We are proud of our fantastic colleagues and the communities we serve as well as the wider public who benefit from the research we publish that touches millions of people every day. Like any global business we are looking to make efficiencies and make improvements. We are also committed to retaining our talented colleagues and have a global career hub which guides colleagues with tips, ideas and links to all our open roles enabling colleagues to take ownership of their career development.

Pros

- Decent Hybrid Schedule - Good Benefits - Decent Perks (Summer Fridays) - Nice Office (even though it is empty on most days)

Cons

- No bonuses for any group other than Sales - Career Opportunities are severely lacking; there a lot of meaningless projects that they want employees to take part of but those projects don't have much effect on career growth - Salaries are NOT great at all...definitely not competitive if you compare salaries with other companies and there is no real action to correct it at all from Senior Mgmt which is a real shame - Although hybrid schedule is nice, although I wish it wasn't mandated to show up weekly, the cost of living is high and commuting adds to stress and spending money - Quality Employees are leaving due to some work/life balance and low salaries - The Company needs to do more to improve employee well being and improve moral...some companies shut down for a week to give their employees a chance to recharge mentally...even a free day off would be nice

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Glassdoor and sorry to hear your feedback. We pride ourselves on our inclusive culture and hybrid way of working, and summer Friday’s form a small part in our commitment to a strong work life balance. We actively encourage an environment that promotes diversity and recognises ideas and opinions in line with our values. At Springer Nature we review our salaries regularly and our hybrid working (2 days in the office) is valued by many global colleagues. We are aware that the New York leadership team are actively encouraging all our colleagues to ‘show up’ in order to have valuable face to face time together. Thanks again for sharing your review and please contact your HR partner if you would like to discuss your well-being.
