Pros

Friendship: you work with great people, you build your connection with your mates easily here, you gain life long friendship. Passion: I work with a group of people who have great passion for what they are doing, it is not only a job, it is something bigger than themselves; it is to build a product / platform that we are proud to deliver. Opportunities: this place is not lack of opportunities, we are responsible for our own growth. Go out of our way to learn, to communicate, to contribute, we are building our own value. Even though SiteMinder is not the right place for us one day, we take with us all the experience and learning, which help us to be successful.

Cons

There is high staff turnovers during the past few years, you see people come and go, sometimes without a farewell and note from their managers. Either we did not recruit the right person from the very beginning or we did not take are of them. Sometimes too much focus on KPIs. We need it, but we also need to ensure we are measuring the right things.

Pros

Free cereal, biscuits, bread, coffee, tea. Beer on Friday. Good location. Nice people. Growing business.

Cons

Lack of career progression / career development. Too much external hiring with no interest in training and developing current employees to move into more senior roles. Leadership issues and poor management. Don't focus on doing a good job if you do want one of the rare promotion opportunities that aren't advertised externally, just get on well with the current management. No clear lines of communication between departments and a general lack of communication. No interest in employee feedback.

Thank you for your candid feedback. Our aim is certainly not to hire external and forget about our team and if we have faltered in this regard, we will hold ourself accountable with a view to making positive change. The aim is to make sure we focus on the growth of our people internally but have this happen in parallel to growing and scaling the org. No small task, i'm sure you would agree. We are always open to discussion with our team on how we can make this happen more effectively. We are realistic in that we are very good at being the size we have been but we have never been the size we are going to be and so it is a journey we are on as a team together, navigating scaling challenges whilst trying to make sure our people feel like they are SiteMinder.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Would love to learn more about what scalable SOP's you think would work well in SiteMinder org context and open this up for discussion. Also keen learn a little more about what perks of training tools/opportunities you would like to see outside of the internal trainings?
