Pros

- Conferences and travel payed - Meet people from other places over the world - Free T-Shirts (Trust me, they give you one each 2 months at least) - Good people in some teams

Cons

- Some of the people is so focused in its own development instead into share knowledge - Alot of EGOS on some dev teams - Some devs are wasting time on create useless open source libraries instead of push to change legacy code on marketplaces. - Dinosaurs mixed with people so motivated is just a 💣 - Management team is changing its roadmap CONSTANTLY meanwhile competitors just smash their products - No work culture, some of the people that is working there is working for more than 10 years and they loose any ambition or illusion to work there after seeing projects and projects being cancelled, changes of focus, bad decisions etc... - Company doesn't kick this toxic dinosaur people so newcomers decided to leave company after 1-2 year

Pros

One of the best things to work in Schibsted is the work environment. People are very friendly, fun and very open to hear your ideas and help out when needed. This is one of the things that makes me want to get into work every day. Another great thing is that currently the company is going through a transformation process to become a tech company and a lot of new and exciting projects are coming up. Another thing I really enjoy is that there is a lot of space to propose ideas and innovate, regardless of your job position. I feel that generally people's opinions are really valued, at least in the teams I have worked with.

Cons

People often won't tell you what to do. Of course this can be a pro as well but I mention it as some people don't know how to work unless they are told what to do, something that happens often with developers. In this company sometimes you have to be bold and make decisions. Another cons is that the company is distributed around the world which means that lots of meetings are on videoconference, which is not always ideal. Also people are expected to travel if needed, which some people might not like.

Pros

- Lots of flexibility. - Reduced working hours in Summer and Easter - The rest of the year you work 37h per week (Friday reduced) - Lots of perks: private health insurance, paid gym subscription, paid phone, once per year assistance to a conference of your choice and subsidise part of the cost of buying contact lenses or prescription glasses. - Plenty of resources available. Things are going really well.

Cons

(Only talking about Barcelona, which is what I know) - No passion, at all. A LOT of veteran employees (working for this company for more than 10 years). - Product driven. This is not a tech company, their marketplaces are first. Technology is a means only. - Team Product Owner egos. They often are opaque to their teams and want the merit. - Lack of focus. - Opaque about salaries.
