SAGE has lost its touch (not a great place place to work anymore)

Pros

- They offer work from home (but have started something called Anchor Day, wherein they cajole employees to work from office, a day each month). - Two days off in a week (although most employers do that, so its up to you if you see that as a pro)

Cons

- Was once a good place to work, not so much anymore. - Poor leadership. - Poor remuneration. - Poor communication - management claims to have a very transparent communication with their employees (this couldn't be further from the truth). A recent example is; 80 odd employees were laid off, they were only given a very short notice before their employment was terminated (some of whom had been with SAGE Dehradun right from the start). For a company claiming to be "like a family" this doesn't portray a good picture, should of at-least given a month to the poor chaps to come up with a plan for their future. - If you have any concerns (especially salary related), do not bother contacting the HR or management about it, they either never respond and if they do they make sure to drag it as long as they can. At the end of it, if they offer an increment (at all) it is not worth the time or effort. - Poor recruitment - The new hiring's at SAGE (for the most part, in the last few years) can only be described as mediocre. To bring in people at a low cost with no apparent skills, may work well in the short run but has a bad impact on the quality of business in the long run. Either the management is ignorant to this fact or doesn't care.

Limited growth, unreasonable workload, great benefits

Pros

- Excellent benefits, especially for those with families. The benefits are offset by low pay though, so if you're single and in relatively good health, you might be better served by another company with higher pay. - Generally friendly culture, where you can make good connections with coworkers. - Very slowly, SAGE is starting to embrace more flexible hours, work from home policies, and workspaces. - Your work contributes to a fundamentally good company mission.

Cons

- Unrealistic workloads across departments. People are often saddled with too much work because management will not hire/replace people when needed. - Opportunities for advancement can be limited, especially on certain teams. There is a serious lack of candid conversation about growth and transparency from managers. - Pay is low. Significant raises will only come with promotions and, as noted above, these can be rare. For young people starting their career, spending more than a few years here could lock you into low wages for a long time, because your salary growth will always be based on your original low wages. Great medical benefits are very valuable, but they won't pay your student loans. - Poor/outdated infrastructure and technology, and not enough resources to fix them quickly. Employees have to make up for this lack of investment by spending their time on inefficient work. - Very hierarchical and bureaucratic culture. Good ideas and necessary changes can take months/years, if the suggestions are accepted by management. Office politics and stalemates between teams can often be serious blockers. - Not a diverse industry or company, and it shows in management & HR. They have good intentions and are making more efforts in this area this year, but it's quite late and often misguided.
