Pros

The vacation benefit for experienced hire is generous. The pay scale is average. Smart people to work with. No much office politics. Office space is nice. Discounted stock purchase plan (DSPP) is not nice. 401K math is decent.

Cons

The digital transformation journey is a scary one. No one really knows if that strategy will pay off or not. People are in a "scare" mode while doing the maintenance work for the legacy desktop app. No job security any more.

Pros

An extensive technical expertise is friendly shared and there is Eureka system for knowledge sharing among all employees. Commitment regardless of domain. Easy communication across domains. Competitive bonuses and soft management. A brave new world of innovations in oil&gas industry.

Cons

Ambiguous procedure extrapolated from the field to the office or vice versa. Visit of VPs disrupt workflows in the locations. Reporting and delegation corrupts the tasks across many levels of management, though it is typical for big structures. Most of managers cannot supervise, and in hard times of the project they might try to flood the team with the pointless ways of validation and possible solutions. Cost cuts all around, trainings and travels need to be strongly justified by business needs. Growth through the M&A discourages long-term technical projects.
