Pros

Great trainings, very professional, organised, takes HSE seriously, they ensure that you know everything about your job to the running principles and physics fundamentals.

Cons

They own you. Ridiculous learning modules that takes up your time during off shift, makes you go through stupid G11 control programme along with a one year project that must benefit the company. Better off doing a 1 year Masters programme for yourself! Not compassionate, too appraisal driven, harassment policy is a joke, if you report they turn it around and blame you for it! The worst salary in the industry of seismic. Fast track seismic engineer programme is a real joke, trying to make managers in 3 years and make you work a like a dog. 5 weeks on board, 3 weeks office time and less than 2 weeks off ?! Work 8 weeks and MAYBE 2 weeks off.

Pros

Schlumberger is a great company to work for in regards to the training and gaining experience in the industry. The training to become a Wireline Field Engineer during PEPTEC-1 is first class and the opportunity to travel internationally is a given. Additionally you'll work within a team of engineers from around the world so a very good gender and cultural diversity.

Cons

Work-Life Balance. (This applies to Wireline) This has been mentioned in most reviews but I'm keen to reiterate this. You will only see friends or family once or twice a year if you work in Wireline. Be prepared for long days in the office (7am-11pm) and several weeks away at a time in the Field with only a few hours sleep over the course of several days. Additionally your contracted hours are a joke, if you're on a home country contract (I was on 35hours a week) you will certainly work over 85hours in the office, never have a weekend off and an extended period of time offshore with half the renumeration compared to the Internationally mobile engineers doing the exact same job. It all sounds negative, however if you're single (and celibate!), happy to only see your family & loved ones only once / twice a year and want to build up experience in the industry this is the job for you and you will be rewarded years down the line for your hard work.

Pros

From a Finance person perspective: This is a big company with super duper company policies. Just follow and it will make your work easier. Treasure it coz a lot of companies do not have such empowerment given to its gate keeper. SLB is willing to spend on staff training. Your CV will be enhanced with work experience from SLB.

Cons

Exactly because SLB is that big, systems used within the organization may be fragmented. Talking to A may not help you because he may be from another segment/ biz. A lot of re-organization, expect redundancy.
