Pros

Training, Hands-on application/experience, Travel opportunities, Upward mobility/promotion depends much on ones drive, Decent local salary (much better expat pay package though), Loads of presentations that perfect ones presentation skills.

Cons

Narrow technical specialization due to segment structure, Personnel usually takes the fall for (workshop tested) down hole tool failure, Large disparity between local and expat pay package, Lack of empathy from management, High redundancy rate.
