Pros

Great Internship Program with lots of activities and they make you feel like a part of the company. Also, I never had to do any lame tasks, just because I was an intern. The work is real and supports the company. The stability is excellent for full-timers as they have never laid-off employees and the benefits package is pretty good.

Cons

The chances for promotion are slim, as they value seniority above performance. Racine is a pretty hick town, but fortunately Milwaukee is not too far and Chicago is an hour and a half away.

Pros

SCJ really is a family company, where the employees really do matter. The culture of the company is one of trust and respect and is very welcoming. Employing the right talent in the right place is important to SCJ and is not just based on past work experience but personality fit with the company. People development is important to the orgnisation and there are always plenty of opportunities to gain more experience in your chosen field.

Cons

The recruitment process is either great or horrendous, depending on the recruiting manager - but i guess that is the same no matter where you go. Although improvements are being made regarding internal job opportunities, it can be difficult to move roles and progress at the desired speed.

Pros

Good work-life balance, culture of putting employees first actually seems genuine; company has a policy of not laying off employees, so job security is good

Cons

Physical work environment sucks, at least for us IT folks. Think dingy, gray, windowless cubicle farms with atrocious lighting. Even better was wandering through parts of the buildings that were obviously designed for humans, with non-beige paint, plants, natural light and everything, and knowing I'd never have an office or cubicle there. As an intern, I got to develop software, but I was told that even the appdev team generally doesn't do that anymore, and a lot of the actual employees were jealous of my assignment.
