Pros

Location, salary, decent people to work with. Ideals of company are super. Ethics are above par. Great atmosphere, good to family.

Cons

Push push push, always rolling out a Plan or Program of the Month to make changes. Want everyone to work 110% and more.

Pros

Job security. You can be entirely incompetent and not get fired. Management is so far behind, you will be ahead of them the first day of your hire, so relax and take it easy.

Cons

Culture is a quagmire. Incompetent management, CEO relies on old time SCJ people who have no idea how to compete in a modern world. Current senior staff are arrogant, mean, and incredibly ineffective. individual initiative produces punishment. Seniority in SCJ trumps experience, high performers from Fortune 50's should stay away; 10 years in this backward culture will trump 15 years at Proctor or Unilever. Over the top bureaucracy. Performance accounts for nothing in this culture, excellence is irrelevant. If you aren't an old time SCJ person, you're nothing, no matter how talented or smart.

Pros

Overall it's a great place to work. The work is challenging and there are no lack of resources to do your job well. Most managers treat employees fairly and the benefits can't be beat. Fisk goes out of his way to do small things to show appreciation like impromptu BBQ's in the summer.

Cons

The promotional opportunities in RD&E are slim once you've hit Sr. Research Engineer. People have worked here a long time (if not thier whole career) and don't realize how truly good they have it here. An outsider might get frustrated hearing people complain about non-issues. Management is pretty far removed from their subordinates.
