Pros

Talented people, focus on sustainability

Cons

Archaic culture and inefficient processes combined with a mass exodus make for a dreary work environment. Open positions are hard to fill and people are crumbling under the extra workload. Either that or they are stuck and can’t complete projects due to a lack of resources. CEO doesn’t approve of remote work and forced employees back to the office with no vaccine mandate, testing or concern for safety. Employees are forced to take public transportation to work in SF (as there is no other option for the majority) and put the health of themselves and their families at risk during the height of delta.

Could not be handling COVID-19 worse

Pros

None when it comes to COVID-19

Cons

This review is specific to COVID-19. SCJ could not be handling this in a worse manner. They are requiring non essential personnel to come in starting November 2020 at 100% capacity in one of the largest outbreak states. They are not acting like a family company, and our “CEO” won’t even talk to us, but would rather go through his executive staff to tell us to get into the office or “find another job” — they are losing all credibility across the marketing organization and around the whole company

SC Johnson Response

Thank you for your review. As our priority is the health and safety of SCJ people, we are committed to returning employees to the office the right way. Great care and investment have gone into preparing our offices for a safe and successful phased return starting in Nov. 2020. Our aim is for all SCJ people to be back in the office in the beginning of 2021. We understand there may be circumstances that might make it challenging for SCJ people to return. Through a confidential, HR-led process, SCJ people are able to submit requests for exceptions and pursue alternate considerations. We appreciate your feedback as we continue to evaluate our return to office progress and apply learnings.

Pros

Great brands. Good exposure. If interested, you can learn a lot and grow within. Good benefits and great people to work with. There are some great leaders trying to make it a great place for their people.

Cons

HQ location is not the best (Racine, WI), and on top of that they don’t have flexible commute plans in place. There is a Chicago office, but with very limited opportunities and a broken system to manage talent between the two offices. They are very old school when it comes to technology, telecommute policy and even dress code. CEO lost a lot of people’s respect when he showed minimal to none empathy to social issues like BLM. Also during COVID even though people kept pushing the company forward in so many ways, CEO kept desperately pushing for people to go back to the office because his perception is that WFH is not efficient at all. When people have been working hard and dealing with the whole stressful situation of a pandemic. The least they needed was to be forced back into the office . I wouldn’t be surprised once economy stabilizes and opportunities start to open, a lot of good talent will be leaving.
