Pros

Company: The company benefits were amazing. The non-SSOD HR representatives were helpful and caring. There is top-notch health care, both the plan and the on-site services. Great day-to-day perks life cafes and gym. SSOD: Not a lot.

Cons

Company: Pay, including raises and bonuses, were lower than I was used to at other non-government jobs. SSOD: There is no work life balance in this division. You're told when you're hired that they're not a 35-hour a week division, but they don't tell you it's routinely nights and weekends, with no work-day time off even when you're called to work for several hours the night before (even 3 AM). Expect minimum 45 hour work weeks, frequent 50+. People are leaving this division in droves for a reason. And while the number of customers is increasing, the number of new/replacement employees is not keeping pace. Sick leave warning: It may say "unlimited" sick leave in the new employee benefits package, but if you take more than 5 days in a year, you'll be verbally counseled. People routinely show up to work obviously sick, and spreading their germs to coworkers. God help you if you need to take FMLA, especially more than once.

Pros

SAS in Cary, NC has a beautiful "campus" with great exercise options for lunch breaks. The people I worked with were for the most part nice and intelligent. The workload was acceptable. Benefits were good.

Cons

SAS pays you for 35 hours but I never worked less than 40, and usually 45 - 48. They have some managers who discriminate on age and gender. When you go to HR they are behind management. This HR scenario happened to me, as well as to 5 others working in my area, and we all left SAS within 2 years for other companies because of poor treatment. My manager did not like me exercising at lunch (he did not himself) and badgered me endlessly to stop until I complained to HR. I left and have never looked back at this privately held company. When I read how SAS is a #1 company, I smile wryly, as me and those who left it think otherwise.

Pros

- People you work with are nice - Cafe’s are great although I’ve heard the prices have doubled so probably going to be similar to every other company that becomes Public

Cons

PAY. I am so glad I started to have conversations with others and on how much they were getting paid. So many people who have spent years are getting paid so much less than the new hires. This does not sound like a good place to work. Also a lot of the younger generations are looking elsewhere. Older people closer to retirement are just ready to retire.
