Pros

- Rover has a great culture and wonderful company benefits (sans 401k). - There are dogs in the office! - Everyone is very intelligent and motivated

Cons

- It's a dog-eat-dog - hyper competitive - everyone is Type A - kind of office - The benefits enjoyed by most of the office are not equally shared by CX - Managers promise growth and fail to deliver. They pass blame by saying, "the needs of the business have changed."

Pros

In the beginning, Rover was an amazing crew, great people and management who truly cared for each other and wanted the best for your team. Were allowed to bring dog to work and bereavement if your pet passed.

Cons

Has become very corporate. To save money they let go of several departments and smashed them into one, but did not increase compensation or employees to make up the difference. This position specifically can be mentally and emotionally draining, and compassion fatigue was a huge issue. They stopped listing to the agents regarding best work flow and had management make up work flows that did not work, but refused to admit to this. Those workflows that agents spent months creating, certain management gave the credit to other managers who were not involved instead of the agents. Pay was significantly less than other jobs in this position ($10-15 less an hour). Massive lay off due to Covid. During a meeting with our management after, they made a promise they would hire back once they re-opened positions, even told employees who stayed to reach out to friends and pst employees to apply, then gave a copied and pasted denial email to each past employee. Was specifically asked by an old supervisor to apply. Most of the current issues in this department seem to be around a specific manager, even now with employees who are still with the company.

Major diversity issues / low pay

Pros

* Dogs. Obviously a positive to working at Rover. You feel a sense of connection with the mission and the brand is really popular. * Some amazing, kind-hearted colleagues. * CEO and COO are inspiring and mission-driven.

Cons

* African-American and LGBT employees were seemingly impacted more than others. In my time, the majority of African-American employees in tech roles (already a very low number) were terminated or left the company. HR leadership appeared insensitive and cynical about concerns brought by transgender employees. There is no visible passion for diversity and inclusion in the day to day working of the company. * Culture has gone downhill rapidly. The company changed vacation to "unlimited", but management denies requests and still restricts usage. The change seems to be an accounting maneuver that restricts folks from carrying over time. * Pay is crazy low. They are secretive about salary data and tell employees who have concerns that they must not believe in the value of equity. The benefits are also well below competitors.
