Pros

Long process of employment and not very international.

Cons

People were more focused on the vibe in a team rather than on a job.

Thank you for leaving a review, I’m disappointed to read your comments, we’re proud to be an international business that gives our people the opportunity to develop a career in a truly global organisation, driven by our collaborative, team-based culture which we see come to life in the many opportunities our people have to work cross-functionally and across borders, such as on our global collaboration days. But we are always open to feedback – if you’d like, you can reach out to me at annemieke.peskens@robertwalters.com to arrange a confidential discussion. Annemieke Peskens Senior Director Netherlands

Pros

I really enjoyed working for Robert Walters for the most part. I was given excellent opportunities to learn and grow within the HR department. The skills I have developed have been invaluable and I am grateful for that.

Cons

During my employment it was always disheartening to see other team members with higher salaries that essentially did the same job as I did. Working for a support function team at Robert Walters is extremely tough, you are never rewarded or recognised for the hard work you do compared to the recruitment side of the business. To reiterate I had a great time working for this company for over 6 years. I have always had positive relationships with my line managers during this period. I have to say it was really demoralising after all my years at RW that I did not have any contact with my manager towards the end of my employment. For instance, I was scheduled to have an exit interview with my line manager over MS teams but she did not turn up to the meeting or make me aware that she would not be attending. There was no common curtesy of a goodbye etc (still to this present day). I was also not sent the off-boarding survey to provide my feedback. Unfortunately, this did contribute to a really poor off-boarding experience. I really did not expect to end my employment with RW in this way....

Thank you for your review, I’m so pleased to read that you valued the opportunities to grow and develop, we’re proud of the development opportunities and pathways we offer our people. I’m disappointed to read your cons, our business is built on meritocracy and collaboration which really is valued and recognised – I’m always so proud to see our business partners celebrated in initiatives like our annual Top Achievers programme, global townhalls, CEO videocasts and global collaboration days. And I am very sorry to read your comments about your off-boarding process, it sounds like we fell short of the high standards we set for ourselves and our commitment to our employees, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are always open to feedback – if you’d like, you can reach out to me at coral.bamgboye@robertwalters.com to arrange a confidential discussion. Coral Bamgboye Global Head of Employee Experience

Pros

Opportunity to Gain Experience in a Fast-Paced Environment: For individuals who thrive in high-pressure, sales-driven workplaces, Robert Walters can provide valuable experience in meeting KPIs and adapting to challenging environments. Close Team Dynamics: Small teams foster close interaction with colleagues (Hope you like your team or else...) Opportunity for Personal Growth (if Compatible): Those who fully align with the company’s expectations and culture may find opportunities for growth, provided they embrace the all-encompassing sales mindset.

Cons

Overemphasis on KPIs and Metrics: The company culture is heavily focused on KPIs, often at the expense of employee well-being. Employees may feel like they are treated as numbers rather than individuals. Blurring of Professional and Personal Boundaries: Success with certain managers may require cultivating close personal relationships, which can create discomfort for employees who prefer clear professional boundaries. Heavy Workload for Assistants: Assistants are often tasked with a disproportionate amount of work without adequate compensation, recognition, or any growth opportunities. Lack of Transparency: Management decisions, particularly around contract renewals and career progression, can lack clarity and honesty, leaving employees blindsided by sudden changes. High Employee Turnover: The company operates as a "revolving door," with many employees leaving after a short period due to the high-pressure environment and lack of support. Unappreciated Efforts: Employees who adapt and take on extra responsibilities often find their efforts unacknowledged, with little to no reward or recognition. Sales-Driven Culture Across All Roles: Even for non-client-facing roles, the expectation to maintain a sales mindset can be overwhelming and unsuitable for many employees. Micromanagement in Team Dynamics: Managers may scrutinize social interactions within teams, creating a restrictive and uncomfortable environment. Stressful Work Environment: Without a strong passion for the work and the company culture, the environment can quickly become exhausting and detrimental to personal well-being.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, we’re glad you valued the opportunity to learn in a fast-paced environment. But we are disappointed to read your cons. Our workplace culture is built on collaboration and teamwork, where everyone is valued for their contribution to our overall success. That being said, we are always open to feedback – if you’d like, you can reach out to us at hr.admin@robertwalters.com, and we can connect you to someone from your location to discuss your feedback in more detail.
