Pros

Pros • Established company • Fairly good benefits • Will be around for some time to come Sales • Simi Stable lots of changes over the next 12 months because of the IKON acquisition • Once you are in and perform you have the job for as long as you want it • Chance for advancement Operation and support • As long as they keep getting clients they will always need operations people. • Better management than the sales group • As long as they grow there are chances for advancement.

Cons

Cons • They do not understand Work / Life Balance • They do not understand that you are not married to your job • For better or worse they are a sales driven organization • The constant state of flux is unsettling • They are a services organization and as a result selling the services is “KING” billing and the back office work is left to too few to do too much, so if you are looking to be in the supporting role just understand that you will be expected to work long hours • The only people that see appreciation for the effort is sales • If you are not in sales you will not hear good job or thanks for the extra effort • The extra effort is the expected daily routine • They are driven my Market Share not value add or profitable placement of devices

Pros

Ricoh has good products, dedicated employees, and a balanced corporate culture. Unfortunately, economic downturn made for a lot of layoffs.

Cons

Big cultural divide between upper management in Japan and the US HQ personnel.

Pros

Having trouble coming up with any pros right now. Decent products, solid secure company trying to get it's act together. Relative job security. Ricoh University offers first class courses.

Cons

Post merger with IKON it's still a mess. Two companies working in the same offices competing for the same customers (Ricoh did this with the Lanier merger too) is stressful for the reps and disrespectful towards the customers. People don't know what their account base is or will be so planning is impossible and a lot of work will go to waste. A textbook way to lose good people. Ricoh people in IKON dominated areas complain about favoritism. I worked for the IKON channel in an RBS dominated area (AVP and Regional VP are RBS guys) and the disrespect and abuse meted out to IKON reps is abhorrent. Reps have not been allowed to replace their own current install base and are expected to hand the business over to their RBS counterparts. Promotions all go to RBS insiders (without IKON people even informed of the positions). Find a new account and it is almost viewed as steaiing from the RBS people. Actual reps are fine, this is a failure at the structural and managerial level, both in the area and above. Message to Japan - mix up the reps from the two channels ASAP, perform territory consolidation and stop stressing out your front line. Other cons - Oracle, endless meetings, process over customers, billing issues and self important administrators. All a sales rep really wants to do is sell - the company needs to facilitate this, not hinder it.
