Pros

Great office location in the woodlands overlooking a beautiful lake. New modern office with great amenities.

Cons

Worst management I've ever seen at a company. The managers and directors are not transparent at all. Many of them can be unfriendly and cold. No career progression. Raises are minimal. Most people here have survived layoffs and are out looking for themselves only. Lots of people I know have left or are looking elsewhere due to the empty depressing environment. Tension between Repsol and ex-Talisman folk. Spaniards show up late to meetings. and think its no big deal. Millions of dollars have been wasted on bad investments and poor decision-making. No one takes responsibility. Not sure how much longer these guys can stand on their feet. The only thing keeping them afloat is the downstream sector. There was a lot of potential the day REPSOL took a foot in the US but it slowly withered away.

Cons

* Very dangerous living and working conditions - worked in Libya with constant threat of being kidnapped or killed by terrorists due to very poor security provided by company * Most HR people couldn't get a job flipping burgers * Laziest managers in the world

Pros

The basic necessities: computer, chair, desk.

Cons

Where do I start? 1) No employee development what so ever. Will not get training or proper development. Also, won't get any real experience since all assets are currently non-operated (sit and watch). 2) Legacy Talisman influence: the poor decision making that drove that company under still echoes since the N. America HQ now sits in Calgary. 3) No offices: 3/4 of the company sit in cubicles (you have to be with the company at least 5 yrs to get an office). 4) Under-qualified managers: In general, a lot of unqualified people working here. They either don't come from Oil & Gas backgrounds or don't have technical degrees, yet somehow they are managers and leads....5) The pay: base salary is low and you probably won't get a raise for several years, so you end up making a lot less than you would elsewhere. The company responds by saying they give 401k match and an additional match (safe-harbor contribution), when other companies give the same AND a reasonable salary AND stock options AND nice bonuses. At the end of the day, you pay low, you attract poor talent. The ones that leave are the "better" ones so you can imagine who is left....6) Bonuses: The year end bonus that you are entitled to won't be distributed until April or May! That is 4 months of interest the company is earning on EVERYONE'S bonus from the previous year!

Repsol. Houston Office.

Pros

Very nice location on Lake Woodlands with a new and modern office. Short commute for those living in The Woodlands. Great 401k.

Cons

One Repsol is a lie. You've simply pigeonholed Talisman employees into the Repsol machine and cut their benefits significantly. You took away long term incentives and flex vacation days. I now work more for less compensation. Thanks for that. Spanish culture is dominant and only Spanish/South American employees have any type of career path. Lastly and most importantly, managers have no respect for women, whom some have left due to inappropriate behavior on multiple occasions.
