Terrible company, the future of the company is bleak

Pros

Nice colleagues, beautiful headquarters in Madrid. Those who work in Madrid get to leave early during summer and Fridays but this does not apply to other offices.

Cons

Terrible senior management with no interest in their people. Very hierarchical and long reporting lines. Political: promotions based on connections. Centralized: Madrid rules and the rest of the world must follow. If they want something, it is always urgent and needed ASAP, so you'd better drop everything you are doing. Tunnel visionary: functions do not communicate and do not seem to know what others do. For example, each of them might want the same data but in a different type of format. A number of reports is large despite not having the IT tools to achieve it, the instructions are not always provided and the purpose or the use is not always clear. Inflexible: new ideas rejected based on not being the Repsol way without clear communication what the Repsol way actually is. Unsustainable workload, many working long hours and covering several positions. Many people are close to burning out. Low salaries, way below the local market, poor benefits. No personal development and not much of professional growth especially now. No team building activities or any other sorts of things to boost the company's morale or to feel part of something. At least we had none in our office but maybe it is different elsewhere. Overall, the whole message seems to be "work day and night and be happy that you have a job." In my whole career I have never been so miserable and depressed as working for Repsol. I cannot wait to leave.

Pros

- Smart, capable team. - Profitable company even in down market. - Good pay and benefits. - My managers have been excellent.

Cons

- The Madrid management makes decisions at a glacial pace. - The merger of Talisman Energy is taking years. - Almost two years into the merger and there is still confusion about the org chart. - Legacy Talisman Energy talent has been left with nothing to do while Madrid teams are swamped with work.
