Pros

- fully Remote with no offices - good equipment - generally nice colleagues doing their best under pressure - unlimited PTO (though depends on the team and this culture is changing a lot) - originally had a compelling mission launched at the right time

Cons

- Leadership seems lost and out of their depth. It feels like we generically follow competitors, and as a result enter extremely competitive markets with little to no thought. - We've changed from a startup focused at trying to be good at one thing to let's be everything to everyone, throw it at the wall and see what sticks. It's the exact opposite messaging the founders had initially, and it's scary how quickly they've talked themselves into this and are making investments to build anything and everything. - Leadership is the cause of a lot of chaos due to poor coordination, constant changes, and poor communication. Wouldn't be so bad if the changes were good but more often than not they're random and create more problems that need to be solved, which people work tirelessly to solve only to find out leadership decided that it isn't important anymore and it's on to the next idea (while usually blaming others as to why it didn't work out). - Budgets were slashed since layoffs because of the leadership's failure to keep an eye on things. It's happening again with a surge in growth/spending/hiring built on hopes and dreams, but little real execution to prove it's justified and won't just end up in layoffs again. - They look for any excuse not to give increases in salary or promotions, again probably to save money. - They don't care about burning out their teams, have done so regularly, and the answer to that is - we're now a "high performance" culture. In other words, I don't care you burned yourself out trying to make this work, you should be working harder (and by the way, no raise for you!). - Revenue targets seem not to be based in reality - Ownership is often misused as a value, frequently by managers. Instead of taking ownership, they push things off on other people and then tell them to "take ownership"

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Your honesty is greatly appreciated. As a current team member, you know that at the beginning of this year you heard our founders share their long-term vision and the shifts in strategy and culture we’d be making to get there. We’ve been consistent in strategy since then and are very close to achieving the ambitious goals we set for ourselves by the end of the year. In reading your review, it seems the biggest opportunity for improvement is in ensuring that you as a Remoter understand this vision and how we’re getting there. It’s understandable that this perceived lack of coordination and transparency can lead to frustration, and it’s important that you understand how to find the information you’re looking for. Remote’s high-performance culture does not mean any compromises on employee wellness. All Remoters are still encouraged to take unlimited PTO and build a schedule that works for them. Workload management and performance expectations are both very individual, so these are important topics for you to bring up to your manager. We're committed to setting realistic, achievable objectives for ourselves, our company, and everyone here. We greatly value your candid feedback, and we assure you it will guide us in making our company a better place to work.

Pros

So before I started work at Remote I basically researched the heck of of this company. Glassdoor, LinkedIn, you name it - I had researched it. I thought it was a scam. I came from corporate and I was like.. In-game meetings? Flexible working schedule? Unlimited days off and a really good salary? How does THAT work? Must be an MLM. Must be some.. crazy crash and burn start up. It took me a long time to apply. Applied after researching their handbook and I was just curious how the interviewing process would go. Man, I flew through that recruitment process. Every single interview felt like I was sitting down with a friend. I questioned them on EVERYTHING. By the end of the second interview I remember looking at my family and going "..Wow. This is it" I got the offer in and I accepted. Made sure that my old manager was okay with me coming back in case I got scammed! That's how crazy I thought this idea was - to leave my comfortable corporate job for a job at a start up with such radical ideas around work.. I'm in month 3 now and I am a different person. Remote's got me a therapist. Not because I need it, but because everyone needs one. I feel seen, heard and my goodness - my mental health and sanity has gone through a full-reset. I now work hours that I want, when I want. I get to onboard refugees for free because the company doesn't want to profit and simply wants to help. The company wants the little guy to build up wealth and my goodness, as a millennial I am finally able to add generously to my savings account. I haven't taken much time off despite the unlimited leave policy. Because and I know, this sounds crazy - but I actually like going to work. crazy, right? The only day I had off was the self care day Remote made me take off.. haha Do what I did - research the company and speak to people from Remote. These are good, talented people from all over the world and most from really talented places that want the world of work to change.

Cons

I'll be truly real here - the company is growing like crazy. I was employee 124 I think and we're now heading for 400 employees worldwide within 3 months. This means that new people show up every day and I do not know half of the company, which sucks because most everyone I've met so far has been incredible. What comes with rapid growth? You need to be flexible. Things break. Google is your best friend. Processes need to be made and if you are not flexible and go-with-the-flow this place is not for you!

Pros

Fully Remote. Base pay is fair. There are some great human beings.

Cons

It's disheartening as the proclaimed values aren't maintained. There's notable favoritism and questionable practices. The managers' assertiveness makes asynchronous work impractical, and micromanagement, along with numerous issues spanning payroll, legalities, and lifecycle, creates a broken environment. Rather than focusing on what works, the company is diverting attention, losing valuable clients in the process to compete. Slow responses from internal teams contribute to chaos, and extra hours of work not relevant to my role. I quit. Working for Remote is a nightmare, and many positive reviews appear dubious – RepVue offers a more accurate perspective. I joined for strong values but feel deceived; the company doesn't set you up for success and raises quotas substantially every quarter, leading to more work for less reward. Your work is pretty much apologizing to clients all day, everyday when you are not the one causing issues. Horrible. The VP of Sales for the Americas left. The CRO left. A lot of people leaving every week. There is something fundamentally very wrong.
