Pros

- Brand Recognition - Good PTO - Great Employee Discount - Mostly friendly and laid back work Enviroment - Large Company with lots of divisions for possible new opportunities - Many development classes available - philanthropic

Cons

- Management tends to use direct reports for their own gain. Often taking credit for your work. - Difficult to transfer to other job functions - Promotions are typically based on who you know rather than your performance - Lower than average industry salary - Poor work/life balance - Bonuses only provided for Upper Management - Small raises - HR department does not do much for employees below director level. Many people work as temp/freelance for long periods of time promising full employment and then not delivering on that request, HR will always side with upper management. - Revolving door

Glass Ceiling

Pros

Clothing discount. Compensation package is above average.

Cons

Glass ceiling. Don't even think about getting a promotion if you are African-American. It is a very hard glass ceiling. There is almost no leadership that is African-American, and the company refuses to do anything about it, even though there are lots of qualified internal candidates. Not a good place to work.

Pros

Working at a corporation as long-standing and financially stable as Ralph Lauren can be an incredible experience, you have the opportunity to work with all of the biggest names in the industry from top retailers to the best vendors across the globe and because of the very cushy financial situation you are able to work on a lot of development which can be great for learning and general experience.

Cons

There is a lot of creative oversight by upper management which can be good but can also be incredible scattered and often times different people are pushing for development in completely different directions, managing this oversight leads to a lot of over-development which is time consuming and can really kill morale. It also means that a lot of time is spent on inter-office politics rather than intelligent and thoughtful development.
