Pros

Working with an iconic American fashion brand is just one positive

Cons

Toxic work environment with a high school mindset and a very high turnover. There was no collaboration in team effort, but favoritism amongst the managers. Instead of collaborating and assisting each other as teams with a consistent daily workflow, a majority of the employees would constantly complain about their low pay and positions. Unfortunately, the complaining would occur everyday in the department. Sadly, even your boss would complain about their pay and stagnant position to you. There would also be other constant personal complaints, which created an even more toxic work environment. Furthermore, there was a lot of bullying and backstabbing involved with me in the department and I was never appreciated as an employee and team member from the start. There’s a saying where 80-90% of your daily life is at work. Well guess what? At RL, you can sense the toxic, negative energies in the air once you walk in and that will follow you towards the rest of the day and each week. Lastly, there was no value in employees except for the very few selected ones. I forewarn anyone to not ever work here in design or even start your career here. There is a constant high turnover with a toxic work environment and that includes the bullying and backstabbing. It is clearly not a healthy work environment and it would be very detrimental to your mental health down the line.

Pros

Your direct counterparts will be the most amazing people you'll work with. The company happens to hire some of the best rank and file professionals in the business.

Cons

Unfortunately, unless you're willing to go along to get along, or you just happen to be the last man standing, you'll never be promoted. Or you happen to be a fave of upper management. Doesn't matter if you have the skill set. Looks also matter a whole lot. If you don't have the "Ralph Lauren" look, good luck getting a good review or anything resembling any acknowledgement that you're actually good at your job.

Pros

It is one of the most diverse companies in the industry. There's opportunity for everyone regardless of your background. The Lauren family is great at instilling their core values of equal opportunity, being charitable and inclusive in the company culture. Everyone has been here at least 10 years because its just a great place to work with amazing camaraderie and employees who have a great passion for the brand. Also the new CEO is a joy to work for. He embodies the value of the Lauren family, is very approachable and continues to strive towards equal pay for women.

Cons

Compensation is awful. I choose to stay because it works for my family however most companies are being really flexible these days so its hard to justify staying here. The company is aware they are well below the curve and has instituted even more flexibility to compensate. We've had layoffs consistently for 5 years and the organization is very flat so there's little to no internal mobility or room for advancement.
