      Pros

      - Many chances for individual to try new possibilities - Internal transfer to some totally different role is possible - Group companies with diverse businesses make it a nice place to meet people

      Cons

      - Being a Japanese company. It means stupid reports and weird culture - Not catching up to the trend, technically and non-technically - Internal organization fight against each other. There is no collaboration at all beyond team level - People just do not respect professional. Your boss asking you to do something totally wrong is not a rare case

      -Free meals -Latest stack and technologies -training opportunities for high performers -abroad visits for high performers -two bonuses and increments for high performers

      Cons

      -bad mid management -money driven business company -not an IT company -your teams performance is judged by money your product or service earned and performance of manager -no roams for new ideas, business analyst is god, business unit drives technology unit, even allocate budgets -no accountability of business unit and group or section managers, once you reached this level, then you are really earning great money without doing much -money mongering CEO and higher management, everything in company is drives with how much money you earned this year and previous year

      Pros

      Work life balance. Facilities at Office (Tokyo) - Gym, Cafeteria. Exposure in terms of working with people of different nationalities.

      Cons

      Software development is a complete joke here. Rakuten is only and only a business driven company, run at the whim of Business Units, Tech division has next to no say in what, when and how to implement. Individual success is more dependent on office politics than actual merit.
