Pros

You will make friends with other people who also work 12+ hr shifts with you You will learn to onboard yourself (tools, roles, responsibilities) and once complete, teach others above your paygrade how to perform their roles in the process You will learn leadership skills even if you dont apply to a leadership role because no one else wants to/can afford to do the role. This does not translate to a promotion, its expected. If you are lucky your team will honor your "off-friday" perk For those who need to start their Masters this company will pay for some of it, but you have to find the right school otherwise they might not approve it They pay above living wage, but 10-20% under the competitors offers for the same role. Even more if you take into consideration that effective contributors do the job of others who havent been trained or dont want to do their role

Cons

Attrition rate is above average, with teams who should be made of 4+ people being sustained by 1 person (who might just end up being the newest member of the team). Horrifically, some contracts are bid this way, so you always run into the conversation of "we are going to upset the customer if we tell them we need help" and it becomes an escape goat statement to not hire the appropriate amount of support for the volume of work. Old tools that require a massive amount of reconciliation which eats away at your productivity. As more time goes on, a higher amount of your personal time has to go into patching their output. If you dont teach your self how to do this, you are labeled "ineffective" for waiting for the tool to run overnight. Leadership does not listen to the ideas or concerns voiced by employees who are trying to help them retain talent and keep their tenure-ship at RTX . Comments are dismissed, which include hard numbers forwarded for increasing work pay to what competitors are actually offering, asking for a TRUE wage analysis based on the type of skillsets they want to hire, in tandem performing a separate analysis before hiring others onto their teams so that there is an equal consideration based on skillsets and asking to treat each other with dignity, instead of calling them late at night or on weekends constantly to help with the slack from other teammates/departments Understaffed departments will bleed their responsibilities on to yours - expect it Toxic work environment that promotes bypassing high performers to promote friends or former colleagues into higher-level roles Lack of trust between employees and departments which leads to on-going blunt/vocal disrespect during team calls/meetings, highly dysfunctional teamwork, and a lack of commitment to achieve shared goals

Pros

- Work-life balance, especially on heritage Raytheon 9/80 schedule - Many paid holidays including "shutdown" for the winter - Tuition assistance program is better than other companies

Cons

- Management having to be chased down for simple requests - Requirement to stay with Raytheon two years after completion of degree/cert if you use tuition assistance - Not allowed to negotiate pay for program or pursue opportunities outside of your function

Pros

Some of the other employees are cool

Cons

Bad work environment, major sexism, no team work, new ideas are never welcome. This is a good job if you don’t want to ever critical think again. Direct task leads offer no guidance and expect you to know exactly what to do, then talk behind your back instead of giving feedback to your face to improve your work. Managers are so disconnected because they never visit the actual office. Systems integration and test (SI&T) is a nightmare, run in the other direction before joining this mess.
