Pros

Time off increases with years of service

Cons

Stagnant wages, different rules for men than women. Men get promoted more, and get better opportunities than their women counterparts. Women are stuck on program assignments for a min 1 year, where new (male) employees get the opportunities and wage increases. What adds insult to injury - these are women managers.

Pros

Salary, 9/80, Xmas week off

Cons

GBS is poorly managed, unrealistic performance expectation, you will be perpetually overworked. They do not have enough people to do the job, and keep pushing "efficiency" as a way to alleviate what is too much work. GBS management is not aligned with the people putting in the requisitions and have no idea what is taking place beyond "TPS reports". GBS is a cost center, there is no revenue to the business unit, so the only metric they have is to squeeze cost. To prove that point, They just went through layoffs to reduce cost while other business units have growing business and revenue - meaning more is needed from GBS (can you say "death spiral"?). Just stupid. Unless you're about to lose everything, find work elsewhere. And even then you might consider losing everything.

Pros

Note I am a current employee but will be leaving- unfortunately this is not the same company I joined- not even recognizable. One Pro- the experience I was lucky enough to have here before the company took a turn for the worst makes me extremely marketable to other companies in the industry. I had some amazing mentors, customers, and experiences that helped me grow into a leader. Note those experiences would not be possible today. I will say Raytheon delivers excellent products across the board and employs some of the most brilliant engineers in the industry. I always enjoyed working with my peers and the teams I managed- the people that do the work truly care about their product and the customer.

Cons

The culture has become extremely toxic. The only thing that matters is the bottom line- not the customer, and not you. This is not a meritocracy-if you are a high achiever, you will be much more valued and much happier somewhere else. This is not for innovative thinkers- the company is completely process driven. Make no mistake, as an employee here you are now expendable- your level or performance doesn't matter. It's so sad to see what it has become. The company used to be led by the P&L businesses who care about people, and developing and retaining talent. Now the company is completely controlled by Corporate HR and Finance. People are just an expense line on a balance sheet that needs to be reduced. Opportunities for advancement, and/or incentives, for myself and my team, that used to make the company so great are no longer available. The culture around travel, or anything involving expenses (i.e. relocating) is also now a nightmare- arguably the worst in the industry, which is well-known. If you are a high achieving individual who wants to be valued and grow into a successful leader, look elsewhere.
