      Typical for DoD contractor. Government policy/process can be difficult. Fascinating technology!

      Pros

      Excellent benefits compared to commercial sectors. Leading edge technologies within the R&D organizations. Few significant layoffs, although not immune as funding cycles occur. Where sufficient funding is obtained, process-controlled development for production is exemplary. Where supervisors are good, they are very good and a pleasure to work with and learn from. Great place to start a career due to retirement attrition in upper ranks. On programs with good visibility and when individual contributions have made a real difference, Raytheon recognizes and rewards appropriately.

      Cons

      Lowest-bidder Government acquisition policies result in under-bidding such that most work seems to be done behind schedule and with insufficient funds. Where funding is insufficient, development for may rely on corner-cutting to meet schedule and cost targets. Corner-cutting of any kind is actively discouraged via lip-service and much training, but harsh reality is day-to-day pressure to produce results puts developers between a rock and a hard place. There are some horrible program cultures and it's important to keep away from these if possible to have any hope of a career.

      Pros

      The benifits are the best. Wife went thru cancer and they paid almost 100% of the medical. The pay was pretty good too. Leadership is great they show their appreciation all the time.

      Cons

      applying for jobs, really hard to find out if they reviewed your resume or even are considing you for a position but I guess that is the way with most companies.
