Pros

I happen to be on a program with some good folks. They make the environment bearable

Cons

* Raises are abysmal for a multi-billion dollar company * Middle management tends to be lack luster * Management loves to over promise and put unrealistic timelines on everyone * HR is practically useless now that we "merged" with United Technologies * Benefits could be better * Raytheon will do their best to keep you from getting promoted but still increase responsibilities on you in order to save money * Attrition rate is horrendous due to all of the above, creating a very unstable working environment. SME's are all but gone because they know their worth and leave the company

Pros

There are opportunities for great, career advancing work for systems engineers. It just really depends on the department you end up in, the team you work with, and the type of work that's needed around you.

Cons

You can hire in as a MBSE but may not do very much model based SE work. I've seen in development programs a shuffling of staffing that suits at the moment needs, where the work may or may not be interesting, a good fit, or beneficial for an employee. It can be great, but hiring in leaves that up to chance, especially if you don't know anyone.

Pros

Job security is high. There is little risk of losing your job even if you are a low performer. Work life balance is great as they have a 9/80 schedule and are willing to accommodate your schedule needs.

Cons

If you want to be a high performer and get awarded accordingly the only way to do so is to change job roles internally to qualify for raises and promotions. If you stay in your position raises and promotions are very rare even for high performers. Benefits are mediocre.
