Pros

Get to work on some very high level and profile projects. Lots of opportunities for graduating college students cause lets face it they can hire you for peanuts. Company is in charge of a number of different projects and programs so a lot going on. Decent benefits package.

Cons

Company treats engineering staff like fast food workers, and just throws bodies at a program. HR doesn't seem to know when to turn off hiring as you will constantly see new faces showing up in your department with everyone looking at them like we didn't ask for anyone new. At that point they will they lay off a ton of workers because there are too many bodies versus the amount of work. Their review process is a joke as it is setup that you cannot refute anything that is said in it, which is what they want because as long as they want you, you will get reviews saying how everything you are doing is fine or great. The second you get a bad review, which will come out of no where, start looking for a new job because you have been pre-marked for the next round of layoffs. As has been said in other reviews there is very much a clique among departments and managers and you better be in it if you want to stay, because that determines more then if you do your job.

Pros

You are a number not a person, so if you are looking to just wait out retirement or if you are completely incompetent you can float for years without really doing much at all.

Cons

No training other than required ethics classes about how to be politically correct. No career paths or minimal development. Advancement based on whether you brown nose manager no merit. No senior leadership anyone with skill left for better company.

Pros

Ten years ago I would have had something put here.

Cons

This company used to strive to be the "Employer of Choice". Now they strive to be average, because average is cheaper. Because Raytheon has acquired businesses, there are many different retirement plans. Mine had a pension accrual rate increase between the ages of 53 and 56. They laid me off at age 53. I was told that I was being laid off because of work slow down. I looked at the spreadsheet my organization uses to track workload. There was more work than there was people to do it. This is backed up by the fact that my former organization opened new job listings, with exactly the same skill requirements has the position I had before my severance period ended. (And no, they did not seek to recall me.) Every employee has to take a class annually that reminds us to be ethical. Do you think the above reflects an ethical company?
