Pros

- You’ll get very good at cold calls, living on very little money, giving product presentations, and parking in tiny stalls - More initial support for new hires than many other insurance sales companies

Cons

- They’ll tell you you’ll make $100k+ a year, but you find out later that less than 5% make it past the first four years. You’ll eat dirt for those four years before you can even afford instant noodles, let alone rent. Be prepared to have your gf walk out on you when you have to move back in with your parents - Home office turns a blind eye to sexual harassment if the perp makes them enough money; they’ll just give you the number for their internal therapist and tell you not to talk about it to save their reputation (they’ll also take about two months just to address your concern) - Never seen a company this prominent be so disorganized. They will lose your client’s checks, put client monies into other clients’ accounts, lose forms, etc., and of course it ends up being your problem not theirs. Don’t bother complaining to upper management, they’ll just lose that too - There isn’t much training beyond the initial phase. The only way to learn how to do your job is to give experienced agents a cut of your business. - People don’t really know much about financial planning or their products, or anything really (yup, even the experienced agent that you just gave 50% of your parents 401k rollover to). They just tell you what the person above them told them to say - You’ll soon learn that “Financial Advisor” is synonymous with “Salesperson without a college degree” and that the CFP was created by the insurance industry to justify selling life insurance. - They’ll promise you refunds for things such as classes, then change the rules after your requests were already approved. On that note, they’ll also “forget” to pay out bonuses such as recruiting bonuses, then tell you that you no longer qualify for them - After a while you end up seeing people as dollar signs and forget social interaction is for anything other than selling them stuff they don’t really need. Your friends and family might stop answering your calls a few months in

Pros

You get a bigger bonus working in Investment Management though its chump change compared to the amount of work you put in and the responsibilities you have.

Cons

I don't ever write reviews as I've worked at Bank of America and thought that was a very political environment but Prudential takes the cake. You are overworked, underpaid, not appreciated as a person and at the end of the day it doesn't matter how good of a job you do, if someone doesn't like you, they will fire you. It was the worst experience of my life working there, but I powered through everyday and put a smile on my face. People who work there are the ones who culturally don't fit anywhere else. They are the socially awkward people you ignored/made fun of in school. Total opposite of Wall Street culture. They do not give employees phones or pay for your phone bill but expect you to have office email app downloaded on your phone and respond to emails at all times. All the equipment is from the 1950's. You can't even go back to see the telephone number of missed calls. How they invest in equipment is an example of how they invest in its people. They don't. They get you in for the cheapest amount and throw you out when they're done.

Pros

Benefits are good; Stock Purchase Program, Salary decent, Work From Home During Pandemic was helpful.

Cons

Redundant and Absent Upper Management Ineffective and Inexperienced Leadership from Middle Management, too many "Yes" people who only care about their own careers and taking credit for your work Management more concerned with using big buzz words to sound smart versus actually speaking to you and learning something. Afraid to make simple decisions; turning on a light switch requires 3 dozen people and 100 meetings and complete agreement by all. Antiquated Technology More Concerned with telling staff they care, then actually caring and fixing issues staff tells them multiple times Bonuses and Raises not determined based on your work, but on who likes you, even people who have never worked with you have a say Unclear, Unrealistic and Unintelligable Yearly Goals...when you ask HR to explain your goals and they cant, thats a problem No one will help you, essentially dropped in a desert and told to fend for yourself. You are not allowed to speak to anyone more than a one level above you Treated like a child They have absolutely no idea and no interest in maximizing talent. Inability to get employess back into the office if they want to Everything is dependent on you, your management will not help your career, then will no nothing about what you do unless you tell them and it is your fault if you dont
