Prospecting Insurance Agents

Pros

Excellent benefits. But you need to earn it by selling which itself is very hard thing to do.

Cons

Sincere advise to PROSPECTING PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE AGENTS: Its very tough line, most depressing in the world is to sell insurance. All Insurance Companies including Prudential are soliciting innocent persons to sell insurance on false promise that you will earn thousands soon. Totally false. Its very tough line, unless you have second source of income, PLEASE DO NOT EVEN LOOK FOR IT. I was lured to this few years back. Recruiter and Manager LIED to me. They get bonus so it is important for them to hire as many as they could. Once you are hired, you need to study hard to get licensees. Prudential will sponsor and pay your fees, so far good. You feel ambitious, targeted, achiever and they will make you feel proud. After all they are also professional. Now you need to sell minimum 5 insurance and 5000 in production to get regular job. Most of agents are unexperienced so they tap their family or friends for it. Once Agents sells 5 and 5000, Prudential recovers mosts of its Hiring costs. Rest is its income based on your performance. Now Agents are like in fish in pond. In order to earn they need to struggle to sell, when they sell they get commission and MANAGERS GET BONUS. Managers are always working and helping Agents but the goal is get more bonus. Agents commission is so structured that you need to struggle to achieve. If your performance is lower, be prepared to pay $75/week as desk fee from very beginning. In any case you will be paying this fee after two years. IT MEANS YOU NEED TO SELL TO SURVIVE End result: Not even 20% retention rate for agents. If you are able to get regular job is Prudential, you are most lucky person.

Pros

Great support, good people, decent benefits, extensive training (overkill), mentoring, leads program (ok), free NAIFA membership 1st year (you must sign on afterwords), abundance of resources.

Cons

Pitting employees off each other, most don't make it after 1st year, non focused approach, training that is repetitive and never ends, management buys sales products from 3rd party vendors that you pay for indirectly, licensing outside home state paid for by candidate, confusing bundles of sales technology that are not interconnected, not a serious player outside annuities and insurance.
