Pros

Good availability of hours- always able to get overtime when needed Good opportunities to progress into a supervisory or management position Great staff, always friendly and lovely to work with

Cons

I worked in 2 stores while at Primark. In the one store management were brilliant and friendly and supportive in the role and treat staff how they should be treated (with respect and guidance). Upon moving I had the complete opposite experience with the management cutting corners and treating staff with no respect and as though they are incapable of doing the task. When staff struggled instead of being trained they were shouted at. Furthermore I was underpaid several times (I complained and this was never resolved) and did not receive a contract for months after promotion.

Pros

- Lots of support from all staff (staff worked together to tidy whole shop at the end of the day- if you finished your section you were sent to another) - Rarely stressful (except at Christmas) - Many attempts to keep up staff morale - Free night out in fancy hotel because we won an award - Pay was quite good- £5.92 for under 18s - Shifts often the same each week- we were rarely asked to work extra

Cons

- no benefits (discount/commission etc) - work was often boring throughout the day - Management not great- I didn't know who my line manger was - we weren't allowed to leave until the entire shop was tidy so often stayed 45mins+ longer than contracted (however we were paid for extra time)
