Pros

Good pay, discount, make good friends.

Cons

Well where do I start? Very corrupt, bullying management team that think they are above all other staff (and I don't just mean in position) they tell staff lies constantly to cover up favouritism and so they can tell lies to higher bosses who visit the store. They have certain staff they favour and give them secret contracts and promotions despite them not being advertised. Whole place is micro-managed by an extremely corrupt store manager. There is bullying and manipulation going on constantly from managers. They pretend to do good things for staff by making a big show giving silly certificates out but again this is only for the favourites. The only way you will get to progress in this company is if you are either related to management or you are a favourite of theirs ...if not either of these ..you can forget it I'm afraid. Honestly you just couldn't make it up what happens in this place. If staff want to or try to complain and whistle blow they have no means to do so and will be turned on and swiftly gotten rid of. Honestly I don't know how they get away with it. It has put me off working in retail for life.

Pros

I worked short shifts that were easy to do around university. The work isn't too difficult

Cons

Certain manage(r)s have gotten away with too much- lying about staff, spreading gossip amongst floor colleagues, using a confrontational tone and coming off aggressive/getting in your face for no reason- just leading to staff being scared of them and doesn't raise staff morale or motivation at all. Management that don't know how to do the job that you're doing and putting in place unrealistic expectations. So many managers and no communication between them, being told different things from different people and then not knowing who to follow.

Terrible hiring process

Pros

Pay was good for the job

Cons

After a two month hiring process I decided to withdraw my application. After going through four interviews a very tedious background check I was “cleared” to be hired. After almost 2 months I get a call that my high school transcripts wasn’t proof enough that I went to high school and graduated. I have never needed to prove this before for any company. Unless I sent them my high school diploma I wouldn’t be able to start(I’ve already sent in my transcripts because I had them saved for college), mind you this call came almost 2 months after they started the hiring process and I was told I had the job, signed and excepted the job offer. I was given a start date and when I would be traveling only to get a call the next day that without this I couldn’t start.
