Pros

I met some really good friends in Primark. Working in this messy and busy store does give you some great experience. If you can work in Primark, you can work in any shop.

Cons

No staff discount. No double time (except an extra £1 or something for working on Boxing Day and 2nd January). No Christmas night out paid for. No uniform allowance. Extremely messy customers. Many of the customers are disrespectful to staff and do things they would never do in other stores. Noticeable divide between staff and management.

Pros

Pay is alright and youget staff discount. Thats it

Cons

Store mangers treat middle management with utter contempt and bully you repeatedly. They then expect you to give the same treatment to the retail staff or you get it twice as badly. They give you totally unachievable tasks with impossible deadlines then insist on offering you 'feedback' (basically bullying) when you can't do it. They then try to brow beat you into working extra hours for no extra pay and you won't get the time back, all to try and complete what they want. When they demand you work late, or out of hours, existing commitments or responsibilities are never taken into account - if you refuse, you're given 'feedback' (bullied) until you agree. The entire store culture is about bullying the staff and treating them like dirt. Everything is written up (they call it a counselling) often without just cause, but it you point this out, you'll get one yourself. I was bullied by my deportment manager, store assistant manager and store manager, with no support and no adjustments despite me having additional needs. I was bullied relentlessly for months until I had a nervous breakdown and have been signed off ever since. The store opened a year ago and has lost over half its managers and nearly all of its original team of retail staff because no one wants to stay there, Really don't work for this company, it's just not worth it. This job has ruined my life
