      Great Engineering Culture and Management

      Pros

      Great culture. With one exception (see cons), this company has a great engineering culture and engineering is very well managed. For instance, if you want to try out a different team, there's a process for that. There are useful processes for sharing initiatives across engineering teams. Super thorough onboarding for engineers.

      Cons

      No career ladder. Before I left, TravelPerk had no titles for engineers, everyone was "Software Engineer." However, there were plans to change this but I don't know if it happened or not. Not a remote-first company. Despite being a travel company, where you could be remote and bring everyone together via travel, there was a very office-first stance.

      Pros

      It's unreal how small the operation is in the United States. This is a great thing if you are trying to make your impact known from the get go. The customers that come to TravelPerk tend to be very enthusiastic about the product, and it is a need to have for emerging-from-the-pandemic-companies. Compensation is quite good, everyone here earnestly wants to steer the ship in the right direction.

      Cons

      Startup garden variety pains, such as lack of clarity of how to hit targets at times, management has very nice folk but also are similarly are in the dark for direction. More clarity will come as the fiscal years goes forth.

      Good work environment and work culture.

      Cons

      They took the project to the Phillipines while they assured us they would not. After months of saying we would keep our job, they fired us all without warning.
