Pros

As someone new to the field of product management, it was a good place to get my feet wet and learn skills in a relaxed environment, while also working with recognizable and impressive brands. It set me up for a great career trajectory.

Cons

They make it very easy to leave. I found little support from my superiors and was constantly feeling like I was underappreciated for the amount of work I was putting in. Raises and promotions are almost impossible to get, even after tripling your starting workload. Office politics and limited budgets made work stressful and projects hard to green light.

Pros

Large company so good overall benefits and if ambitious can move up or to shift to different departments/offices. Some very good and nice people to work with. Friendly office and most people were nice and helpful.

Cons

Because it's a large company, if your "too low in the food chain" you are the last to know what is going on with the company. Because it's a large company, it can lead to large layoffs, especially when Penguin and Random House first merged. Lots of people were lost their jobs. Pay was very low even after working there for a few years with raises.
