Pros

My colleagues are wonderful. Supportive, interesting, competent, hardworking. Full range of benefits. Cafeteria and in-house library a plus. Free parking lot.

Cons

Used to be a good place to work, until 2007 when they started reorganizing. Since then they have been chipping away at the work force, entire wings of the building nearly empty. Reorganizations each year, shuffling managers and staff so often it makes it difficult to get any work done because one is constantly trying to figure out new workflows. Ridiculous deadlines for those who are left. Lay off 150 people then send a corporate correspondence around bragging about leading market share, top sales and excellent results. Morale is extremely low, mistrust and disgust extremely high. Everyone expects to be the next one cut, so loyalty is a thing of the past.

Pros

Benefits good, reviews and feedback helpful. Longevity in some parts of company rewarded. Coworkers typically supportive.

Cons

Salaries typically not high. Bureaucratic practices typical of all large publishers. Market requirements for state adoption often frustrating, yet need to adhere to.

Pros

Well known and diverse international education company doing important work that people recognize everywhere. The satisfaction of contributing to education with the knowledge that it is a human endeavor of primary importance.

Cons

The frustrations of a very large company and the inevitability of bureaucracy. Consolidation of many responsibilities into few roles in an effort to economize without sacrificing productivity.
