      Enormous media company with a strong mission, but nearly impossible to get anything done

      Pros

      Pearson opens a lot of doors to partners and has a ton of influence in the market. The benefits are great, you have a lot of autonomy and flexibility. It is a great place to work if you are a parent-- they seem to be sensitive to different schedules and lifestyles. The overall mission is good and Margorie Scardino, the CEO is a rock star.

      Cons

      This company is enormous and depending on your role you can be totally isolated. Senior management talks about change but it moves at a snails pace. There are some brilliant people here but a ton of mediocrity and a ton of people who have been here their entire professional lives-- making change that much more difficult.

      Pros

      The people at Pearson are pretty bright, good work / life balance, value volunteering, decent compensation, big company, decent benefits

      Cons

      big company, still a sense of 'old school' publisher mentality among a large population of the employees, can be difficult to move up or significantly change roles

      Pros

      - Interesting projects that have potential to be meaningful - Very nice, intelligent, warm, quality group of people - Respect of work/life balance is motivating to do quality work - Competitive pay and benefits - A good amount autonomy in most roles

      Cons

      - It is a large company and therefore some projects require complex, corporate workflows - Still some legacy software/systems that could use a refresh
