Pros

Flexible WFH/Office schedule, generous benefits & employee services, more focus on company-sponsored community service.

Cons

We're into our 2nd year of company-wide restructuring and 3rd restructuring of Finance. Major moves to off-shore at an aggressive pace and we've sold off key diversifying assets such as Penguin Books and The Financial Times. Many questioning the strategy of Sr. Management as we continue to have major problems with the quality of digital products & assessments. Bonuses have been cut significantly the past 2 years, increases have been 1-1.5% for most and we receive little outside training to stay fresh on our skills. Difficult to move up and into the next level. A new Career Development Framework has been introduced but I'm not confident much will change in terms of professional development.

Pros

Good benefits, Work from home when needed.

Cons

Low morale, Draconian style of management. Was a great company once but with recent changes there is lot of politics and aggressive mid management tactics which makes it no fun to work. Just had a big 10% layoffs and really good old timers who were still passionate about the company were let go. People are quitting left and right. What was once a thriving place has seen its culture deteriorate. Stay away from this place if possible.

An example of what happens with bad leadership

Pros

Great co-workers for the most part Also, a noble mission statement and overall goal, even if the company has no vision on how to achieve it.

Cons

The biggest con is the executive management team. The low level pieces are continually shuffled around during multiple reorgs, while the decision makers all stay in place. Very poor communication and many messages to employees come off as tone deaf. Lack of long term strategy, as the company jumps from one trend to another. Strong belief in outsourcing, and the majority of current employees expect to either be laid off or 'rebadged' in the near future.
