Pros

- Overall a very young and sociable workforce that regularly do social things outside of work. - brand new offices that are very colourful - the cafeteria is stocked with food to make lunch - coffee machine with alternative milks

Cons

- Extremely toxic, misogynistic and creepy upper management. They completely lack empathy or even a basic understanding of the day-to-day reality working in the office. They set completely impossible targets and then make your life hell when it’s not met. Not a single person was able to meet these targets at the time, but instead of reviewing the targets realistically, they UPPED THEM EVEN MORE! From what I’ve heard, they have actually doubled the targets since I was let go (on my birthday), and also fired their longest-standing employees with no solid reasons as to why. They pick and choose who they want to give a hard time, they choose a new person to target every other week and constantly threaten everyone’s job security. I was an anxious wreak working here, as were 95% of my colleagues, who have now all either left or fallen victim to one of Octopus’ mass firings with no solid reasonings. The main upper management (40+ year old man) for my particular department actually was moved to a different department due to an incident with a young girl in the office - this girl magically didn’t work at octopus anymore… just shows that octopus will protect the higher paid men over vulnerable young women, and this has been the case time and time again. On top of this - there is no HR department, so any issues you’re facing, you have to go to said upper management as if they were HR.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and provide feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your time at Octopus didn’t meet your expectations, and that your experience with the Solar team had such an impact. We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive. As Solar continues to grow and evolve rapidly, we recognise that the pace and demands of this journey may not be the right fit for everyone — and for that, we’re truly sorry it affected you negatively. We’ve taken your comments seriously, particularly regarding team culture and leadership. We know how important strong, respectful relationships are across all levels of the organisation. Our leaders are encouraged to stay close to the day-to-day through regular office presence and participation in team events. That said, professionalism and respect are non-negotiable values, and we are confident our leadership set good examples of this. Any situations falling short of that are addressed promptly, regardless of role or title. We remain committed to being a great place to work, and open communication is a key part of that. Your feedback highlights areas where we still have work to do, and we’ll continue to learn and grow from what you’ve shared. If you’d like to talk more or have additional thoughts, we’d welcome the opportunity to listen. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter, Jessica Wilkinson
