Pros

You get car allowance to get a vehicle on the salary sacrifice scheme. Pool and ping pong table with a fridge for soft drinks and snacks.

Cons

Kept hiring people and kept increasing sales expectations and targets with less leads to go around. Head of sales said it was nice to meet me twice in the space of a week! Shows how invested she is in the team. I put the allowance as a pro - but it doesn't cover a single car available and needs topping up to get ANYTHING let alone something half decent. Was promised a payrise after 6 months, at 6 months was told to work harder and sell more cars to get paid more. Commission structure was all over the place, not many people knew what was happening. the longer you stay the more cancellations you get from customers you have sold to 4/5 months ago and haven't received their car so you have clawback and have to get even more sales to get over the line. I would avoid.

My name is Ollie and I lead all of the growth teams here at Octopus EV. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We’re a rapidly growing business which creates a really exciting space to work, it also means things change at pace and can often make team members feel that messaging is mixed. We are always working to be better but we do make mistakes from time to time. I really appreciate this feedback. Fiona, (CEO), Alys (Chief of Staff) and I caught up about your feedback recently and it really helps us see where we can improve. We take all feedback seriously as it helps us make changes where they are needed. We have had some tough months where not everyone has hit their full target and earnt full commission, there are people who are consistently achieving this though. We are always working with the Sales managers and teams on how to support our EV experts hit target and their full commission. I know many of the team do love their role as an EV expert, but it sounds like this was not the case for you, again thank you for the feedback and we will take this moving forward when we hire into these teams. Pros

Great company Environmental goals Future proof - great funding and pay

Cons

Many higher management got recruited from manager roles - do not have the knowledge or expertise Unclear and constant shifting goals Role description only suggestion - a lot of admin and PA’ing expected Hire specialists and expensive agencies but do not understand or action advice Around the clock work expected - but not what you were hired for When issues are raised or suggestions are made on how to make work more efficient employees are called out to make up lies, not understanding startup culture or simply should quit NO HR

Hi there, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave this review. It's really helpful in allowing us to understand the depth of your experience, which obviously wasn't good. My name is Olivia and I am Head of Talent Acquisition for OE Group. I am taking away a lot of learnings from your review, and will speak to the EV team about how we can do better. We really don't intend for anybody in our EV team to be expected to work excessive hours and we do work really hard to accommodate the uniqueness of each of our team members situations. It's valuable feedback for us, that this was not your experience and we are sorry about this. However, we do work very differently to most businesses and sometimes we know that with some people, things just simply don't work out, and we're not the right employer for everybody . Things ending this way isn't great and we wish it could have gone differently for you as well. If you would like to talk, you can reach me anytime on olivia.brown@octoenergy.com Thanks Olivia

Pros

- Lots of opportunities to progress and develop including being given a development allowance yearly - Being part of a tight knit incredible team who are prepared to have fun but work extremely hard and get the job done - Extremely supportive, knowledgeable and caring line manager - Very nice offices with free snacks and drinks - Shares in the company - Good car allowance - Flexible working with lots of team socials and company events - Great benefits - Being part of the Octopus Energy group also opens up the door to wider opportunities The list could go on but honestly the best company I’ve worked for in my career.

Cons

- This is not a negative comment but being part of a rapid growth scale up company means you need to be ready for things changing quickly and be prepared to work hard. - Some negative staff members who like to have occasional moans but they will realise how lucky and fortunate they are here when they up and leave and work somewhere else
