We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with your experience at OPSWAT. We wish we were able to address your areas of concern while you were still with the company. Hopefully, whatever path you have pursued since is better aligned with your goals. For those of you who are reviewing our Glassdoor profile in consideration of working with us: Our CEO's management style is hands-on, direct, helpful, and responsive. He founded the company, and therefore has passion, clear vision, and determination to continue to lead the company to new heights. Please keep in mind that we are a relatively small company, therefore his guidance can naturally trickle down to individual departments. At times, our CEO provides his help or guidance when he sees that a department needs it. He makes a sincere effort to help teams thrive. We have noticed that the majority of Glassdoor reviews commenting on our CEO’s management style show signs that they had some type of lapse of communication with him. Many employees have excellent relationships with our CEO because they have established a good report that is based on trust, respect, and consistent communication. In general, we have seen that employees who offer consistent communication, project status updates, thoughtful and well-researched proposals, and project follow-through often have the best relationships with him. This type of approach is often a good recipe for any work relationship.

Pros

None. There is nothing about positive about OPSWAT that you wouldn't find at every other company. Hence, there's absolutely no reason to work here at all.

Cons

The CEO is terrible. He would rather be right to win and argument than grow the company. And unfortunately, it cascades down through the organization. He micro manages like crazy, changes his mind all the time and is a horrible communicator. His accent is super hard to understand and his emails are barely coherent. You'll think I'm exaggerating until you get one. No sentence structure or punctuation. Words spelled phonetically, but by someone with a super thick accent. Its kind of funny thinking back on it (FREEDOM!) but you'll want to stab yourself in the eye with a fork when you're actually trying to get some work done and then get incoherent feedback from him. Smart guy, yes. Hard working, yes. As smart as he thinks, no. Appreciative of others hard work, no. Every task is easy to him. But then when he tries to get his hands dirty... oh boy, he produces complete garbage. Most difficult thing is that he rearranges facts to suit whatever his current thinking is. He literally makes up stats and claims that other people in organization are asking him for whatever his crazy pet idea of the day is. Its like second grade school mean girl manipulation. And then he is so cheap. So cheap. Totally underfunds projects. And has the patience of a toddler. Somethings take more than a few weeks. But even when he agrees to a longer term project, he get antsy and wonders why it isn't done early. He is the least self aware person I've ever met.

Pros

Met and worked with some great people who will be lifelong friends.

Cons

I honestly never took GlassDoor reviews seriously nor would have written one until now. The reviews you see are accurate, so if after reading you decide to hire on, shame on you. If you are looking for an experience where every professional decision you make is questioned to the point where you start doubting your tenure as a professional and start feeling belittled and undervalued, this is the place for you. You will be working 24/7 under the watchful eye and cameras and be blamed for poor management decisions. Your talent and creativity will not be valued, and it will take you months to overcome the PTSD if you’re able to muster enough energy to leave, only to find yourself thinking you are not capable of working anywhere because you’ve been brainwashed into thinking you’re incapable. If you are a person with any sense of integrity, stay away. The work environment is toxic.
