Hard to grow with this company

Pros

Job security, company has been around a long time.

Cons

Extremely hard to grow with this company. Promotions not based on knowledge or what is best for the department but if the manager has any personal grievances that have absolutely nothing to do with the job or not. Extremely political and not ethical. The pay is well below other hospitals in surrounding areas. Loyal employees not taken care of at all..new hires with very little to no experience paid substantially more than people who have been with the company for years

Pros

Has a good reputation for baby deliveries

Cons

Nurses are not appreciated. Nurses week was celebrated on Friday (last day of the week) at 2pm, with a Popsicle. There is NOT a chief nursing officer or a chief medical officer. 1 out of 10 employees could point out CEO/CFO in a line up. Three campuses that only share the Northside name. Most physicians are community physicians and therefore are not invested in making the hospital better. The electronic medical record is a little better than HORRIBLE. There is high turnover and high patient to nurse ratios. Pay is decent for new hires but very few raises for employees that have been with the company for any length of time. Managers get promoted not on qualifications but rather they have been in a position for a long time.

Pros

Professional environment, friendly people

Cons

The nurse residency program for new grads is a frustrating experience. When I graduated from nursing school and passed the boards I was hopeful that my employer would take my credentials seriously. Instead I find myself in drawn out, repetive classes teaching me the same things I learned in nursing school. The nurse residency program for new grads is a frustrating experience. When I graduated from nursing school and passed the boards I was hopeful that my employer would take my credentials seriously. Instead I find myself in drawn out, repetive classes teaching me the same things I learned in nursing school. More than half the class is trying their best not to fall asleep during these classes because we already know the information. Teach us about Northside policies and let us go back to our units to get more hands on experience with preceptors. It's a waste of their money and time.
