Pros

Good staffing ratio in ER (3:1) Standard pay with standard critical care pay Safety culture and guidelines Positive work culture among peers Having team leads/ supervisors on top of 3:1 staffing Team nursing (can also be a con depending who you ask)

Cons

-Top heavy leadership w/o process in place to allow for policy change or shared governance from the bottom -High levels of leadership involvement and auditing down to day to day nursing care; what is a helping hand one minute can quickly become a burden (some would call this micromanagement). Interactions between team leads/ supervisors and staff nurses over auditing/ patient care can often be negative. Plus with constant new education targeting endless avenues of improvement, you’re left to feel overwhelmed. While the intentions are good, the micromanaging and almost daily new education unintentionally creates an environment of being afraid to “mess up,” leads to conflict without avenues for improvement/ feedback, and stifles critical thinking. -Some doctors left a little to be desired but are manageable to work with so long as you stay on your toes to advocate/ protect your patients

Pros

I like my co workers. No Weekends

Cons

No Cost of Living or Differential in years, even though we handle fragile patients with multiple serious health issues.

Pros

Convenience, aesthetically attractive grounds, less busy than other hospitals.

Cons

So many ways in which this organization can do better. We’re a “pretty” hospital, and Pretty doesn’t cut it. Patients love the care we provide, and we work hard to please. Always short staffed, so don’t get sick or have an emergency. It’s considered an incident each time you have to call out. The scheduling policy is something else. Lots of micromanaging. We transfer everything out so you don’t get a lot of experience with some of the more basic nursing skills.
