Pros

For starters, the people. For me, this is critical to being happy. Good humans, it's not just on our career page, it's the truth. Humble, ethical and helpful, some words I'd use to describe muleys. I've learned from many of them, incredibly smart people have surrounded me and that has helped me be better at what I do. There are always bad apples, don't get me wrong, nothing is perfect, I don’t think there is a perfect company, it's really about what values are the most important to you. And for me, people is in my top three. Second, career opportunities. I've been exposed to so many different areas of the company, and have had the green light to "mutate" my roles so I can work on projects that I want. I've had the opportunity to take my career where I wanted, which is completely different to where I started. I made that possible yes, but the management, my peers and the culture of the company supported it. Last, what we are solving. So much is going on in tech today, but not many focus on solving a problem that impacts a business— and everyday life, as much as integration and connectivity. It's hard, it's challenging, but it's fun...and after four years, I’m still enjoying the ride.

Cons

Always ON.There’s always a lot to do, sometimes (most times) you end up taking work home, because if you don’t, you’ll never get things completely done. So, if you’re all about shutting off at 6, here it will be hard. No WFH. Personally, it’s not a very negative for me, because I do have the flexibility I need, but I know it’s something most companies in the industry offer their employees. Don’t do many fun group/family activities. Besides meetup and holiday parties, we don’t get many offsites, team building activities organized by the company. Some teams do their own thing, but it depends more on your manager. Promotions are not quick like other companies you might be used to. Although you do have the opportunities to experiment and own, getting promoted can take very long.

Thanks for the review and I'm happy to hear about your experience. Hiring the best talent and challenging and developing them is very important to us. Sometimes that means we are working longer hours than our industry peers, and driving the business harder than is expected - but we love it nonetheless because of who we do it with. I would love to chat with you in person about how we can make the experience even better, together. Thanks again.

Pros

Everyone is smart and everyone is exceptional in their role and field. Any question I have is answered immediately with an intelligent, data-driven response. The company touts "ownership" as a core value, and it's real. I and everyone I've met here feels they have a major stake in the company's success, and they pay attention to every detail. All Hands meetings are some of the most engaged forums I've experienced. People really care, and they want the company to succeed. I've also already made incredible friends and truly enjoy the people I work with and see every day. For such intense values and "never settle" philosophy, people actually don't take themselves too seriously and I'm always laughing and smiling, whether it's in my pod area or in the kitchen getting coffee. I really believe in the company's vision and product. They're doing incredibly powerful things in the market. Customers don't just believe, they are living the vision and truly succeeding thanks to the many teams at MuleSoft who make it possible. It's like one giant team instead of siloed orgs. In the short time I've been here so far, I feel like my skillset, knowledge, and overall career trajectory is lightyears ahead of what it was when I started.

Cons

Not so much a con as it is something for people to know—this company is an amazing opportunity for someone who is very self-driven, up for a challenge, not satisfied with the status quo, and has an insatiable quest for knowledge and self-improvement. If that doesn't sound like you, this isn't the right place for you, and that's OK. The hiring bar is exceptionally high and it's not in vain—I've honestly never worked with such intelligent people in my life, and these people get more done in a day than I ever thought possible. You'll feel like you're never doing enough and that you're not performing as well as you can. But they wouldn't have hired you if they thought you couldn't take it, so enjoy the ride and remember that this is seriously the best career opportunity out there.

Thanks for your feedback, it's incredibly important to us and we definitely want to hear your experience of the culture and processes. We did the employee engagement survey several months ago and spent a lot of time at all levels of management reading through the scores and comments--there was a lot of great feedback and we take it seriously. That is really meant to be only a start and I would encourage you to speak openly to your manager or other leaders about any feedback you have. If you don't feel comfortable for any reason please reach out to People Ops to discuss with us.

Heroism and tons of Google's wannabes

Pros

Interesting product and underlying technologies, fast-paced environment, generally speaking great people, and waaay above average in terms of pasion and talent for what they do.

Cons

Hero's syndrome: culture fosters individual heroism over collaboration and team work. Upper management has a tendency to micro-manage everything, from hiring to even tactical decisions. Company is growing very fast on sales giving the great sales team and the smoke sellers, but Engineering is not being able to keep up the pace since is not growing despites the efforts they do because of their elitism and lack of professionalism (some techincal interviewers compete with the candidates!) in hiring.

Thanks for bringing your experience to my attention. Our goal as an organization is to enable teams to be self-sufficient and self-driven, while still having enough collaboration and coordination that we don't step over each other. We are constantly figuring out the right balance to set the pattern for us to grow rapidly and remain as effective as a startup. Clearly we have some challenges there and work to do. Feedback is key to improvement, and I appreciate you calling this out.
