Pros

- Good IT kit - amazing IT team - Some good people who are trying their best in the middle of the storm

Cons

Don't let the good reviews fool you. They had their sycophants help them up their rating, since it had dropped under 3 stars in 2020… - Incompetent management with an ego the size of a planet, no real skills in managing a company, but with a sales background. The perfect recipe for getting the job and milking the business and running it to the ground. - It's been a good year and a half, but they're still paying the price for the way they handled Covid (hacking salaries, bonus and commissions, laying off 20 people a day before furlough was officially available, generally treating people like scum) and are still haemorrhaging staff, when they're not sacking them. - All the successful recruiters left and they haven't been able to replace them, so the number of runners is decreasing by the minute - The contract team used to be a war machine, now it's only a shadow of its former glory, it's actually quite sad - APPALLING communication!! Let me tell you a story of a company who had to make redundancies because they were spending more money that they were making, including people who were ACTUALLY bringing in revenue - yes you read me well - but still took 10 people on a company trip?!? Who does that? Well MA does. If that's not a slap in the face, I don't know what is. They never communicated on the redundancy plan, and waited until some people announced on LinkedIn that they were looking for a new job only to do damage control communication when the business started freaking out There's also the CEO announcing on a Tuesday that he will be relocating from London to the Barcelona office at the end of the same week, but don't worry darling, it's not a rash decision and has been a long time in the making, all is well. - Toxic culture. It used to be almost a cult. They used to rope in a lot of expats, selling the dream of working hard, playing hard with other expats. It used to feel like an Erasmus programme, and we all bought into it until we saw through it: a way to blur the lines between personal and professional life that made it harder to dissociate the two. They excel at imposing the idea that you're lucky to have them and it's really their success not yours. The kings of double standards. You'll have people barely doing any work and being perfectly safe and others having to justify every single minute not being 150% dedicated to the job. Double points if you're male, because who likes a woman who stands up for herself, am I right?

I am really sorry that you feel that strongly about MA and particularly our management team. It is true that the company has gone through a lot of change in the last 3 years and that it is never easy. The management team is definitely not beyond reproach. However, the culture you describe, and the way staff is being considered in your opinion is not the MA I know, the one we all work so hard to nurture and improve...and we can always improve. I will definitely object that we have a lot of very successful recruiters working at MA and I invite any reader who might be concerned about this review to check with us. We will be delighted to let you speak to them and make your own opinion. And of course, you can make your own research on LinkedIn to start with. We will try and find some constructive feedback in your review and keep working hard at being an attractive and thriving place to work.
