Liberty has been very good to me.

Pros

Liberty invests in training for its employees. I have received great opportunities in the industry thanks to Liberty management. It's hard not to be successful when your employer believes in your potential as much as Liberty does.

Cons

Liberty Mutual is, at its commercial heart, a Workers Compensation company. Commercial Auto and General Liability blend pretty well into that heart, but Commercial Property is a more difficult fit. They do put in an effort to do so, and do a decent job, but it's not as fluid as the other lines.

Pros

Good training, if you are looking to get into the insurance field. Multiple products lines to offer which makes it easier to have a sales conversation with a family and work on your sales skills.

Cons

They offer their auto and home product through multiple source, including Gieco and Progessive. They also have non traditional vendors like Soverign Bank and Mutual of Omaha along with their call center as well. While they talk about wanting to grow the local sales force they continue to expand in other avenues. The local sales agent will be like an Allstate or State Farm agent within 5yrs. You are better off starting your own independent agency., hell you might still be able to sell their product, but not hear the gripes about you have to quote more.

Pros

Liberty Mutual is large so there are many opportunities to change roles and the benefits are decent. The company values pay for performance and is committed to developing its employees.

Cons

The company acts like all other Financial Services companies where suits are a must. Corporate policies are not always executed consistently across departments and groups.
