Pros

Good Benefits, Nice Office, Loved the projects and actual work, good partnership between Product and UX

Cons

- Awful Office Politics: you only get recognized if you're going out and drinking with the team after work - forget advancement if you have a family life. Hard work does not pay off here, in fact it doesn't even matter. Manager was checked out any time we had a one on one meeting, often late and then distracted. Management is swapped out pretty regularly so you have to 'start over' every year almost. - Terrible Work/Life Balance (Pre-Covid): They expect you in the office every day and if you choose to work from home they don't accommodate you in meetings and leave you out of important communication when its very easy to jump on Slack or a meeting. - Inequality in the workplace: was held back during my pregnancy and taken off projects because my manager didn't want to put too much on my plate, however I was very capable and extremely put off by this. I didn't feel comfortable going to senior management with this since I've had bad experiences in the past with concerns that went unanswered or ignored.

Pros

Great location and base salary is pretty good.

Cons

Where do I begin? - The leadership hasn't figured out it's a mutual company and that expense ratios are real. 86 the jets, stop giving out useless swag, get rid of programs that have "scheduled" promotions. - Managers have 0 clue how to manage. Leaderships believes in trickle-down leadership. For some reason they believe that if they put their grade 21's through training, it will some how pass on to their lower managers. Also, their in house management program is a flop. - There is an "in" crowd. It'll take you about 3 months before you realize that you can climb that corporate ladder with some well placed friends and choice words. If you want to advance, figure out how to take credit for other people's work and make really pretty Power Point slides. - If you stay too long, your skills won't transfer. - If you want to work in a place where you can get "comfortable", and be convinced that you're brilliant, this place is for you. You often hear a manager should hire people smarter than themselves. That definitely doesn't happen at Lib.
