-Hours in a lot of positions are strange because the company wants to have testing done overnight so it is a 24/7 operation. Turnover in the night jobs is high because most people are looking for something else.
-A lot of the jobs are overly standardized to the point of being dreary. Accessioning in particular is dreary because you sit for hours at a time and obsess over your 'numbers' or how fast you're doing the work. At one point, we were even told not to put family photos or any decoration on our work stations that we use almost every day because they're supposed to be able to be used by any person at any time. People are just trying to make the work a little more bearable, Labcorp!
-Have to drive no matter the weather which is understandable because of the nature of the work but not all of the cars we use are suited to bad weather driving.
-Every so often the upper management seems to get overly concerned about something, make all kinds of irritating changes, then forget about it entirely. This was a bigger problem in my first department than the one I'm currently in but every so often we'll be saddled with some new system that doesn't make any sense and eventually is forgotten about. Not as huge a problem as I'm probably making it seem but it happens.
-Communication between departments can be really poor sometimes.
-Management varies significantly, a lot of them are very good, others are often just using the late night shifts as a stepping stone to a better position and don't really care about the employees. Your mileage at this company may vary based on who your manager is. If you have a bad experience, consider looking for a position in a different location or part of the company.
