I lose all but 30 hours of PLB at the end of the year and there is no buy-back option. I work in a very small lab. In order for me to take PLB, one of my coworkers will have to work overtime. I would like to take time off, but I really dislike having other people work extra shifts. Not to mention myself - I do not want to work extra shifts to cover my co-workers unless it is an emergency or sick call. PLB is part of our benefits - it belongs to the employee. Why can't we have a buy-back? Also, getting HR to post open positions is almost impossible. We have been short staffed for so long - not because we don't have any applicants but because HR is not posting the position, even though we have been told that the position has been approved. They want us to keep overtime down, but then force us to work overtime because there is not enough staff. Last thing: Health insurance. Just like all the rest, Labcorp's health insurance is outrageously expensive. They will provide you with deductions if you show proof you are seeing a doctor, lose weight, etc. but honestly- that is none of their business. Myself and my family almost never seek healthcare because it is too expensive. I would have to be at death's door before I'd go to an ER. Forget all the programs and extras. Just give us low-cost insurance and stay out of the private lives of your employees. Labcorp is just another big, corporate, monstrous company that is not interested in treating employees fairly. They've got all these groups who send emails and tell you all about how great the company is and how much they are doing in various "communities", but really, who cares? However, in the end, it's hard to fault Labcorp when every other big monster company is doing the same thing. No reason to leave for another place of employment because they are mostly the same, in my experience.
