Pros
- Incredibly meaningful work. - A truly impressive technology stack. Nothing's perfect, but we make tradeoffs deliberately and are always mindful of scalability and accumulating tech debt. - Reasonable workload given the opportunity space and the urgency of the mission. Better work-life balance than most tech. - Great people. By and large everyone is confident and dedicated, and the org structure can flex to accommodate folks taking on projects in areas that interest them.
Cons
- Very entrepreneurial, which can feel unstructured sometimes. Great fit for someone that's intrinsically motivated and can structure their own work, but may be a challenge for people that want a task list to execute. - Salaries are lower than tech, though higher than a lot of other mission-driven work. Management has acknowledged this and communicated plans to address it.
